damaged battery connection?
Would it have damaged my battery connection when i dropped my phone and it landed hard enough to shatter the screen and threw the battery out of it?

Hi Kip,
I highly doubt that the battery itself is at fault here. Check out the battery guide for the droid 4 here on ifixit: Motorola Droid 4 Batarya Değişimi
As you can see, the battery is pretty secure on these devices, and the connection is even secured with two screws. What are some of the issues you are experiencing? If the device is not powering on, you most likely need a new LCD if the fall was hard enough to shatter the screen and make you think the battery got disconnected. As always, more information would be helpful.
