Re-fitting tab connector No2 which way does it go?

I just cannot get this No2 tab to stay connected, it just will not stay in place how ever hard I press it down on top of the connectors on the mother board. I have noticed that there is a tiny pale grey flap which can be lifted up so I tried fitting the tab UNDER this flap - still won't stay in place.

Would you please help me with this fitting. Thank you.

Put the cable into the connector and then press the grey flap down in the other direction, this holds it in place

I have been attempting to fix the cable as you suggest, that is underneath the grey flap, but I broke the little flap off and now I've lost it! Can you or anyone please advise me what I can possibly do to save this phone from being thrown away?
