When I turn on my G3 it has a beautiful picture. After about 10 minutes, the screen flickers with horizontal and vertical lines of all colors. I cleaned the fan and added heat sink compound. The problem still exists. What else can be the problem and can I repair it (self-help)? No computer operates fine other than that problem with the video.

Sounds symptomatic of the G3 video chip flaw. Clamp to the left of the trackpad and apply pressure, and if that affects what's going on on the screen, this is the problem. Please see my post on a previous question:

Have you tried connecting the laptop to an external monitor? If the same problem happens on the external monitor, then you have a bad video card on the logic board. If the external monitor works fine, then you may have a problem with the LCD or Display Data Cable.
