ZIF Mainboard-Touchpad cable lock broken

Hello,

The cable lock/socket hinge on the motherboard of my Zenbook broke off after I misjudged it for one with a slide lock and pulled it out. Afterwards I also lost it.

Now obviously the zenbook has no connection to the touchpad.

How do I fix this? Can I replace the connector? Can I fix the connector? Could I maybe swap the connectors (i.e. put the working connector from the touchpad on the mainboard and then replace the touchpad)?

Its such an annoying mistake and I feel really stupid I hope you can help me.

Try using a hot glue gun. The glue is too thick and dries too fast to spread into the actual connection. I also doubt it'll melt any of the cable sheathing, but just in case, heat up a drop, wait a sec or two and see if you can mold it into the joint with your fingers.
