hp 5580 all in one rejecting ink cartridge as incompatible

My c5580 in now rejecting the ink cartridge that I have always used .... error message is "cartridge is not compatible". This has happened in the past, but after cleaning contacts, it worked. Now, no amount of cleaning seems to correct the problem. Can this problem be corrected? B
