The PowerMac G5 is a desktop computer first produced in 2003 by the Apple Corporation. This guide will review the repair process of an Apple PowerMac G5 model number A1047 EMC 2061 from 2004. It was discontinued in 2006 as part of the Intel switch first to developers then consumers.

What have I bought...

Hi,

Going to sound like a complete berk, novice, knobhead, whatvever you want to through at me carry on...haha...

I have recently purchased two powermac G5's on eBay and what looked like equal spec it looks completely different inside.

One had 8gb of ram and was listed as 2.0ghz dual core and the other no ram and what I assumed was 2ghz dual core.nthe back is different also in terms of connections..

Tried switching the ram from one to the other (two G5 logos on heat sync) to the other (single G5 logo on heat sync) but don't fit.

Having just getting home from working away to these "monster size" towers I'm wondering how to make them into one (second one bought as the first had a damaged case...

Need a little help as to figure out what to do now that I don't know what is what..

OT is on the right track, let's first see what you've got. The last four figures of the serial numbers will tell us a lot.
