Just to add on to Eric's answer, you should also plug it in to the computer to see if iTunes recognized it. That should tell you if the iPad is on but the screen is out, or if its a charging or logic board issue.

Tried Eric's suggestion, but nothing happened until I connected to my iMac. Then, Apple logo popped up and everything seems normal. Thanks for info. jn

Press and hold the power button and the home button at the same time for 30sec or until the apple logo appears and release the buttons. If no apple logo appears, then place the ipad on the charger for at least 30 minutes but up to an hour. If the ipad still will not turn on the battery might be bad or the cable your using for charging is bad. Try a different charging cable and charge from your computer or another charging brick.

Thanks Eric, It worked like a charm. I did exactly as you instructed and the logo came on 10 seconds. What a relief.
