Is it possible to replace headphone socket

The connection on my Fairphone 1 has started to get a bit dodgy on the headphone socket - I have to play a bit with the plug to get it to work, otherwise sound carries on from the phone speaker or only in one ear.

Is it possible to replace this part?

I've just asked Fairphone a fourth time about this... I guess they both have trouble with understanding my English and that they really don't want people to repair their phones themselves. Anyhow. I can't see the socket being a problem to desolder, but maybe a small risk for accidental desoldering of some nearby SMD component. I will try it as soon as I get hold of a new headphone jack. :)

Best regards,

Linus

Hi Linus,

if you find a jack which fits, please tell me where you got it from.

I already replaced the display of the FP. I don't think, that they don't want people to repair their phones themselves.

Cheers

My daughter uses the fairphone, so I cannot look myself what kind is needed.

I bought a broken mainboard from ebay and tried to desolder the socket. It wasn't possible for me, because there is not enough space at one pin. There are shieldings in the way.

Anyway: I will buy a bluetooth receiver which is capable of driving earphones. So I don't need the socket anymore.

It would be so nice, if someone could answer the question.

I know, that the headphone socket is soldered on the main board.

This means it cannot be replaced without soldering.

However, if I am able to solder (standard temperature controlled soldering iron; not a smd soldering thing), do I have a chance to replace the socket or is it still not possible without damaging everything?

Kind regards

Klaus
