Trackpad is sticking or non-responsive on left side? How do I fix it?

The trackpad is normally above the battery and if it is becoming squishy and unresponsive your battery may be swelling. Check your battery status. If it isn't a battery swelling issue then I'm not sure.

Yes, you are correct. I replaced the battery and the bottom two thirds of the track pad came back to life, but the top third is not working.
