iPhone 5c Power button not clicking when pressed

Hi All,

I am trying to fix my daughter's power button problem on an IPhone 5C. When troubleshooting, it seems as if the actual button itself works on the ribbon cable, but when reinstalled, the plastic button can't reach the actual button on the ribbon, so no contact is made, and no pressure can be applied to click the mechanical button on the ribbon.

Looking at the replacement procedure, it seems as if there is something on top of the actual ribbon button, compared to my daughter's phone, which is bare metal.

Can anyone who has done this repair confirm that there is actually something glued onto the top of the power button on the ribbon cable?
