How to restore the factory settings to the harddrive?

Ok so i have this fossil of a laptop. Its not this exact laptop but i figured I'd try to ask anyway. I have a IBM Thinkpad Type 2647.

I got it from a friend, and he claims that he has never restored factory settings to the hard drive. I've done this to a handful of my old computers in the past. But for some reason i can't figure it out on this?

I heard that i needed to hold the blue Fn key at the bottom but its not working. Can anyone help me?

I think the one you need is the Access IBM button (blue) in the top row. To help you out I am including a link to the service manual for this computer. Good luck. Ralph

Did you download the service manual? Also do you have the recovery CD's that came with the system?

You'll need to contact Lenovo to order one.

Does your laptop have the Blue Thinkpad button? What model do you have? Lenovo/IBM always has a recovery partition. Unless you have replaced or wiped your factory drive, it is still there. Let me know the model and I can possibly point you in the right direction.

Hi SW, I will start at the beginning, a member of my family was updating my Tomtom satnav for me on this old laptop when it got to 4 out of 5 the laptop stopped,my Tomtom displayed " stopping and will resume shortly" We waited a few minutes and nothing so gave up and unplugged the satnav and packed away. Now the laptop which is an IBM think pad t42 model with the IBM access blue button on the top of the keyboard will no longer work. Now when switching on the screen comes on as it should then changes to this message at the top of the screen " Stop: c0000139 (Entry point not found) The procedure entry point GdiGetBitmapBitSize Could not be located in dynamic library. GD132 D11. All this makes no sense to me as I have no knowledge of computers .I was told to keep the laptop so my wife can learn and practice on before buying a modern laptop, we are both in our sixties, but she has a little knowledge and wishes to improve. Please help if at all possible. Many thanks.
