How do you remove wrinkles/creases from leather shoes?

I am wondering what methods cobblers/repairers use to smooth out wrinkles on leather shoes, specifically near top cap. The one method I know is to use a shoe tree one size larger and either use a heat gun or hot spoon on the wrinkled area.

If anyone has any other knowledge, that would be appreciated.
