Adding a hard drive to mac mini late 2014

I am planning on purchasing a new mac mini late 2014. I would like to get just the 256GB SSD and then add a 1TB drive myself. The SSD is flash so it doesn't take up a drive "bay". If I don't get a harddrive will it still come with a mounting bracket for a hard drive? Also will I need to purchase a SATA cable?
