Will upgrading the SSD void my warranty?

I'm thinking of upgrading my SSD drive from 128gb to 256gb will it void my warranty?

I currently have apple care until 2018 some I'm not sure if I should really do it...

I heard people said that whenever your macbook needs servicing just change the SSD back to the original one it came with and you are good is this true? Thanks all!

Well technically yes, it does void the warranty..

You'll need to be super slick about it. You need to leave no trace of you opening it. So no fingerprints or smudges anywhere inside (so wear like gloves haha). Also, no signs of damage on the screws. And just to be ocd, put each screw back in where they came out of.

If you do need to take it Apple for warranty purposes, you need to put back the original ssd.

Make sure you get the right size ssd too.

Hi,

In case you do not remove the internal parts, the warranty will be ok. I had the same question posted on Quora about my ASUS R558UR cause I wanted to use Caddy. If there’re still doubts, there’s the forum discussion with several examples.
