Phone is not recognising official lightining cable

I have an iPhone 5c that stopped recognising my lighting cable I will be honest and it was not an official one. So I thought if I got an official one it would sort the problem but that didn't, my wife has another unofficial cable which does work with my phone but charges very slowly, I have just replaced the lightining connector port thinking this would be the issue but that has not made a difference either the official cable is still not recognised, anyone have any ideas where to go from here?
