Retrieve files from bricked PS4

My old PS4 will not power on so I got a new one. Is there a way to retrieve my saved files from the old hard drive.

Unfortunately, no, it isn't possible at all. There are only a few ways to approach the data, and none of those options is viable:

- connecting the old drive to a computer won't work, it's in a format unreadable by anything else than a ps4

- putting the drive in your new ps4 won't work either. The ps4 will see it as a foreign disk, and format it

- attaching the drive via sub to the new ps4: no luck there either, it will only read official made backups that way.

So unless you made a backup of your saves to an external drive or to the ps cloud, I'm afraid you're out of luck.

No, that is incorrect. You can decrypt the data by desoldering the NOR flash chip and reading it with a Raspberry Pi, teensy, or such. This contains the encryption key you can use to decrypt the user partition.

As I'm just sure you're still trying to get your files 9 years later... You can desolder the SPI NOR flash chip and read it with a Raspberry Pi, teensy, or similar device. This contains the encryption key used for your saved game files on the user partition, but not for the system partition.

If i have my HDD and my PS4 is no more able to boot on that HDD, is there a way to extract encrypted data from that HDD and than decrypt it in any way? Im looking here and there for thread that can help in this case. It was updated to the latest system update, and then shut down, never to be able to rebuild it. So, if i understand, i need decryption keys from that PS4. Is there a way to obtain them? Are those tied to the system updates? Is there a way other than desoldering atm?

If the bricking isn't caused by a hard drive fault or corruption, You can try removing the hard drive, and plugging it directly into your computer using a SATA to USB cable. Depending on its formatting, you should be able to then see the files and move them just like you would the files on the computer.

When I plug it into the cpu I can't find the drive. It just makes the sound it makes when something is plugged into the USB port

I looked it up, and its in a format not readable by pc. There might be an application that will let you read it, but at this point you may want to consider going with the new hard drive.
