Left side of screen unresponsive

Nothing has happened to my iPod to cause a screen problem. Out of the blue the left side icons are not responsive. Music, Fitness, Photos, and Clock are unresponsive. The icons on the right work fine. I've reset the iPod on my Mac but that didn't help.
