So one day after school I took out my phone (Samsung Galaxy 3 i9300) and it had a big scratch across it lengthways, only one though. I do not know which part to replace! The touchscreen works completely fine, the display is perfect (except for the scratch of course) so what do I replace and how?

The lcd and touch screen are 1 part. you can either get the "Galaxy S III LCD Screen and Digitizer (no Midframe)" which requires a little more work by transferring some pieces from your current screen to the new one or get the "Galaxy S III LCD Screen and Digitizer" which includes the mid frame but cost a little more. The description of the "Galaxy S III LCD Screen and Digitizer (no Midframe)" in the iFixit parts store explains what it does and does not come with

NO! That is just the glass. If you have to ask if that is the right part then you are not qualified to do the repair with just the glass. Repairing an iPhone for instance with just the glass requires heating up the screen enough to loosen the glue with out damaging the lcd or any other components, separating the glass from the lcd, and then using Liquid Optically Clear Adhesive (LOCA glue) and the cursing the glue with UV light. It is a Very difficult repair with a high failure rate.

@dp70737 - high failure rate? I've never had one of my repairs on this model fail. Maybe "you are not qualified to do the repair". Try not to be such a smug SOB, this is a learning site.
