My phone got wet and now the screen is black

Hi. My phone took a short dive into my kitchen sink and i dried it out and put it in rice for 3 days before trying it again. I took it out, put the battery in, and charged. When I pressed the power button it vibrated on but the screen remains black. Occasionally I get a vibration for notifications. What should I do? It's a budget phone so having it repaired would cost more than the actual phone. I haven't taken it apart yet to examine it. I would at least like to know possibly where it could have stopped working.
