WhiteScreen,Identifiying bet. LVDS Cable and LCD Screen Problem.

White screen. How to confirm if its a problem with LVDS Cable, connector or the actual LCD Screen?

P.S: My Macbook shows white screen. No logo, nothing. Tried PV RAM, N Ram reset...can't even access recovery mode. A quick workaround revealed that no problem with harddisk...its fine tried connecting it to another macbook.

Consulted a apple certified technician, an acquaintance. Suggested that he has fixed this issue before and it is usually the lcd screen or the LVDS Cable. He is too far away and so he can't diagnose the problem so am looking to fix it myself.

PPS: the logic board get super heated right after turning the macbook on. The issue started when i tried to remove the lvds cable. How to be sure that its only a lvds cable issue and not the LCD screen that could gone bad with me playing around

In my experience, a white screen usually indicates a failed hard drive. Try starting up from your original installation DVD. Insert the disk and restart. Hold down the "C" key after pressing the power on button and push the disk back in if it pops out. If it boots, you'll know the problem is with the hard drive. You can now attempt a repair.

1. my dvd writer is gone. 2. i've mentioned that i've checked my HDD on another macbook. It is fine. the contents are all there. Screen is just white. not even able to access recovery mode. thats when i confirmed it has to be with the cable or lcd. And infact the whole thing went bad only after me trying to remove and putback the LVDS Cable. So I just want a way to figure if the LCD screen works without help of my macbook...if so i can very well go ahead and change the LVDS Cable/connector

You didn't mention that you had disconnected the cable. To confirm and isolate the problem hook it up to an external monitor and see if it is generating a video signal.

You always answer the same thing! Stop spamming every question with your lame suggestion about the HDD, you are helping NO ONE!

@idungoofed How about not complaining about my answers and PLEASE give us YOUR correct solution. I've only been working on Apple products for 39 years, 35 of those years as a professional. But for the sake of all humanity post the correct answer for us or shut up.
