No reverse on my golf cart

My electric golf cart lost its reverse can I fix it myself or do I have to take it in to a service center?

Would you give us your model number?

tarafından

EZGO textron serial number 833198

tarafından

@gerryr and the make of your cart as well :-)

tarafından

I find nothing but EZ-GO on the cart

Okay lets get to work. Based on your serial number you have a :

Make: Medalist

Type: Electric 36 V

Model: Electric Medalist

Year: 1994

Sounds about right?

@gerryr, this could be as simple as the reverse switch being the problem. It is a mechanical contact and could be not making the connection. You can check that by switching the wires from the forward/reverse switch and see if you now have only reverse. If so, you know it's the switch. You did not tell us if your cart has a backup beeper and if it still comes on. Also, let us know if this cart has a dash mounted toggle switch.

I replaced the forward reverse control board. Now I have no reverse. Reverse worked prior to replacing control board.

tarafından

@mikegolf have you tried to switch the wires to see if you then have reverse but no forward?

tarafından

Hi my ez-go 2005 txt cart suddenly decided to not go in reverse ! the reverse alarm sounds but the cart won't go ! it will run forward when I push on the rocker switch. I checked the contacts behind the switch and they are ok no broken or frayed wires.

mine was the micro switch on the passenger side of the forward reverse switch. I just bent the prong put on the lower side of the metal just below the white tip of the switch. This way it pushes further into the switch housing.

If you have a CC DS Series setup (2000) and you loose reverse but have forward check your FNR switch it’s the 3rd micro switch lever (closest to you) bend it up to make full contact and it will work perfectly. My cart is completely modified 48v lithium battery and plum quick motor (vigilante) upgraded Curtis 1205 controller 325a and stock aftermarket solenoid. Had nothing but issues the last two weeks and finally overhauled the wiring (4 gauge welding wire) and connector's (waterproof connectors) today and figured out why post 2-3 only work if there together for reverse and that is cause the tab on the FNR is not bent enough to make contact. If you plan on making big changes to the electric upgrade the wire right away don’t wait my old wire caught fire and burnt the FNR. Test drive completed and clocked 33mph. 6in lift on 24s single battery. If you need any help look up 48v club car ds wire diagram and look for model diagram. , it helped a lot tracing the wires out ! Don’t go to the shop find it n fix it !

My motor and controller (stock 25 years old) both & the solenoid all burnt out at the same time and left me suck.. I had to walk home and get my quad to come tow home the cart. That’s what happened when my forward gave out but my FNR was also fired from an electrical fire I had.
