Battery compatibility between S5 vs S5 Neo

For starter I live in Canada so my provider is Bell. I have a Samsung galaxy s5 neo (SM-G903W). My phone stopped charging fully. It will charge to 30% or 40% overnight(8 hour period). I do not have a similar battery to swap in and I want to be sure to buy the right one. On ebay I found battery for s5 but they do not have the same amperage so I'm wondering if I could damage the phone by installing a battery designed for a s5.

Yes, the battery of the S5 is compatible with the S5 Neo. A Samsung staff member wrote this in a forum, so I guess (and I hope) it's a good information!

I did a live chat with Samsung today. The guy told me that the S5 & the S5 Neo batteries were NOT compatible! Seem to be hearing conflicting info..... i will call Samsung products dept. on Mon.

Galaxy S5 Neo – exactly the same as the previous Galaxy S5. Both has a 2800 mAh battery. However comparison always depend on the screen brightness set to 120 cd/m2, Wi-Fi turned on and 3G, Bluetooth and GPS turned off (except for the 3G web browsing test, of course).

These pictures should answer your question. If they don’t, look at the Charge Voltage in V (Volts) and mAh (milliAmp hours), and the Nominal Voltage in V (Volts). BOTH OF THESE NUMBERS MUST MATCH! The mAh, however, does not; it simply determines how long it will last, based on Amp hours. I unfortunately don’t have the proper calculations in front of me, but, the higher the number, the better.


But, if you look at the pictures, both batteries share the exact same figures, and the exact same charging ports on the corner of the battery. The 903 and 900 are identical, in my eyes.

I don't think they are compatible. Your battery is probably EB-BG903BBU (like mine). The S5 takes EB-BG900BBU. From what I have read, they are not the same.

I shopped on ebay for a battery for my S5 Neo too. I actually bought one for an S5. I did a live chat with Samsung.ca and the guy told me that the two both use different batteries.

Yet, i cant seem to find one for my Neo! Not sure what is right......

I have two Neo motherboards, two S5+ motherboards, and seven S5 motherboards on my bench. The same 2.8Ah battery fits all of them.
