refuses to take a picture and just freezes

hey I just got a used ds good condition and I go to the camera app and the inside camera works but when I go to put it in outer camera mode it refuses to take a picture and just freezes lease help I got this DSi with my Christmas money and it was on my Christmas list. I've tried rebooting it to system format memory but it still wont work.
