Why does my speaker work off and on?

I keep losing the audio. It comes and goes on it's own. Is it a software or hardware problem?

One other thing? If I drop it from 2 or 3" onto a table flat on it's back that sometimes brings it back. But I don't have to do that. It does come back on it's own eventually.
