I need a repair estimate/tune up!

My laptop has been abused over the past 5 years. I really love the laptop, other than the extreme weight. I have put off getting this hunk repaired for far too long. I was wondering if there is a way to take it to a store or send it somewhere to get it looked at and see if it is able to be saved to near new capacity, or just beyond repair and not worth it. Feel free to email me at Da.Flightpath21@yahoo.com for a response.

I could provide a good answer, but I'm not sure if your selected answer is sufficient or not.

if your after a tune up? save everything important on a memory stick!

Then once your happy with everything that you have saved, switch off laptop, then switch back on while pressing F11 top keys above numbers, this should give you option to reset back to factory settings, once this is selected, let laptop do its thing, then on restart you will have a laptop like the first day you brought it,downside is to re-install your memory stick and security. But worth it,cus factory settings gets rid of unwanted crap from your laptop.

Yes thats useful, but also the laptop is 5 years old now and yes, your probably right and thats a great idea, but some more ram and an SSD make a HUGE difference in performance.

Beside any cosmetic issues,

A new SSD drive runs $100-$200 depending on brand and capacity.

A quality new battery maybe around $60.

Memory upgrade (assuming a complete new set for a 16gb upgrade and the laptop does accept it) about $100.

This should suffice and well worth it if the retail price of this laptop was really north of $2k USD.

I understand how to upgrade parts and tear apart the laptop or slide in some ram/ssds. I am more talking along the lines of lack of functionality. I have upgraded to windows 10 and none of the drivers will install or more so I don't understand driver downloading lol. Like the rog button does nothing, multiple function keys do not work like keyboard backlight or sound, even the media control functions on the num pad don't work. I don't have my start up cd or the bloatware cd to even go back to factory. Everything went downhill when my pc decided to auto install windows 10. Thank you for the market rates :D

@sidetch Download Windows 8.1 64bit drivers from here:

https://www.asus.com/us/ROG-Republic-Of-...

After that everything should work.

Make sure you update the BIOS first.
