My remote will not connect to the player. No matter what buttons I press nothing will change.

Try checking your remote's batteries. If they are dead then this could be your issue. Replace the batteries with fresh ones and try again. If still no luck, check the remote's sensor for dirt or damage. Clean with a microfiber towel or cloth.
