After installing dual SSD it does not turn off

I installed a secondary Crucial 525 GB SSD with your "iMac Intel 21.5" Mid 2011 Dual Hard Drive Kit"

I did a restore of Time Machine backup onto the new SSD, and made the SSD the boot disk. Now, when I try to turn off the computer, it does all the shutting down show, the screen becomes black, but it does not end the process. Nonetheless the peripherials get disconnected, but if I try to turn on the computer again, it does not turn on. I have to push the on/off button for a while in order for the computer to actually turn off, and then it is possible to turn it on.

The same happens when I leave the computer idle for a while, It enters into that same state it goes when turned off, but not off completely. So every time a want to use the computer when idle for a while, I have to press the on/off button for some seconds, and then start the computer again.

Please help..!!

Did you format the drive GUID & Mac OS Extended before using the Time machine restore?

Also did you alter the Startup Disk control panel setting?

@danj You mentioned something in another question about there no longer being a BUS speed difference. Is that right?

tarafından

@mayer - Are you talking about the SATA port's speed? The '11 models have Three - SATA III (6.0 Gb/s) connections (HD, optical drive & spare). The older '09 (2 ports) & '10 (3 ports on most) models have SATA II (3.0 Gb/s) and the '08 models are the last with a PATA (ATA-100) optical port and one SATA III (3.0 Gb/s).

@danj I was referring to the BUS speed of the optical drive port.

tarafından

@mayer - The optical drive its self I think is only a SATA II unit.

Yes, I did format it as you say, and I selected the new SSD as the startup disk.
