What sort of CPU can this logic board support?

I have a Mac Mini lying around that I'd like to update to see if I could make it work as a general use computer. Upgrading to an SSD and maxing out the RAM are of course obvious go-to's, but while I'm in there - is there a better cpu that could be put in?

I've got my torx screwdrivers and I'll order the logic board removal tool - it looks like I can get a 3ghz Core 2 Duo on amazon for around $30, is that the best this logic board can do?

Thanks!

It's not really possible to upgrade the CPU without special tools and very good skills with desoldering and resoldering surface mount chips.

The CPU is part of the board and cant be easily removed. This CPU is still quite powerful. I have a Core 2 Duo in my 2010 MacBook, which also has 10gb of ram and a 240gb SSD and it is snappy and can do things like video editing and other tasks.

So I would just max out the ram and get a nice SSD. It's much easier and cheaper than going through the process of removing the CPU and replacing it.

No kidding! I know the clock speeds are all capping out around 3ghz anyways. Thanks for the tip! I appreciate it.

No problem. If i answered your question, please hit accept answer! And the mini can still run OSX 10.12 with no issues. Especially if you upgrade it, it still can be a beast of a machine for another 2 or 3 years.
