Is it possible to replace the glass only of an S8 Plus?

I am simply wondering if you can replace just the glass of a Galaxy S8 Plus, or if that is impossible. If it can be done, how does one go about it? I've had the phone for a month and the glass shattered.

It is too hard to do it

If I change the glass of my phone galaxy s8+

How long it will work?

Ignor all these people saying something isnt doable. If everyone had this attitude, we would still be in the stoneage. Its very possible with dry ice and caution.

@pccheese is right about the glass being fused. The glass is only the outermost layer (the part that you touch), which is fused to the LCD (liquid crystal display: part that displays the image), which is then fused to the digitizer (the part that responds to your touch). I wouldn’t recommend trying to fix it yourself unless you have all the proper tools and/or equipment. Take it from someone who knows and has actually attempted to do so.

I have a Galaxy s8 plus. Initially, the only issue I had with it was just a cracked front glass. I had already seen tons of YouTube repair tutorials and googled DIY instructions. So, I figured why not try to fix it myself. It’s harder than it looks if you’re not well equipped with the right tools.

If you do decide to fix it yourself, chances are you will probably end up damaging the LCD along with the digitizer in the process of trying to remove the glass. So consider buying a glass that comes with the lcd & digitizer pre-assembled.

To Mr Uber619, don't try and be a know it all, it doesn't suit you.

Sam's don't use LCD's in the S8 it's AMOLED (active-matrix organic light-emitting diode)

There's a few companies which do offer a glass only replacement service and there's videos of it being done on YouTube so it is most definitely possible!!

No. Not possible. The glass is fuzed. Perhaps a professional with all the right equipment could. Even then, the digitizer would probably shatter along with the glass. Check out iFixit's guides and parts for the phone:

@ktronics no, @pccheese is correct. You need a freezing machine to properly separate the glass from LCD, which is incredibly expensive. This is incredibly difficult as well as when glass is cooled down to such a low temperature it becomes incredibly brittle and delicate. All experienced phone repair stores in my area refused to attempt this, and they will only replace the entire assembly.

yes it is VERY possible...dry ice and not being a moron...I've done it..be careful you tube is a wonderful thing.

Yes you can its not easy but its heat. And go from top down.trouble is its very hard to do but if your willing to pay that high price to get new lcd whats the harm in trying for yourself. There is always a way never impossible. And you cant get an Iphone off activation lock either. Always a way

Yes it is possible. However, the process I've seen demonstrated involves a freezing machine that supercools the adhesive bonding the glass to the LCD/Digitizer and allows them to be separated. The freezing machine costs about $5000 so it's an investment that only makes sense for a refurbisher or established repair shop.

You can always try dry ice to freeze the adhesive, I've seen it done with other phones.

You can always do the olde BBQ trick. Warm your BBQ Grill preferably a small propane heated just gently then take your phone and put it in a plastic bag sealed, waterproof then dip it in ice water once it's it's in ice water for about 5 minutes grab it from the water and immediately wrap it in aluminum foil, then place on the highest grill rack in the BBQ. Close the lid wait about 3 to 4 minutes insuring there are no active flames just genuinely heat of at least 450 degrees

tarafından

Ryan, do you then stick it with a fork to see if it is done?

tarafından

Ryan, so should we use Mid-West or East-Coast style BBQ sauce for this?

tarafından

After heating through, remove the foil, turn the heat up and caramelize both sides. I like to use a cross hatch pattern with the grill rack. Make sure you render the fat from the sides of your screen.

Let it rest for 10 minutes before serving with a nice side garden salad.

It is actually very possible but more of a process in my eyes but hey you will be saving lots of more money. I found a guy who explained it very well but there is a catch .. he only speaks in German but you should be able to understand it because of how well the video was shot

My solution is to buy a used S8. I mean its cheaper to buy a used new S8 than it is to change the screen. Its a no brainer.

Yes, it can be done and is not hard, watch a you tube video and they show you step by step instructions on how to do it. The hardest part is taking the case apart. I personally have a heat gun which I use for shrink wrapping, and this is one technique that works in getting the glue to melt. I had to also replace the charging port on the phone because it was charging on the floor and someone stepped on the cord right next to the phone. I ordered the replacement part and it came with all tools needed to replace the USB port, but thats true also if you break the glass. If you do not feel you can do it take it to one of those booths at your local mall that does cell phone repair. Either have them do the entire job or bu the part and have them open the phone for you. You can also use a blow dryer but I think you should have a company that has a machine that you set the temperature to around 100 degree's then they use a suction cup then a box opener or plastic knife to break the seal.
