Why is Refrigerator Not Cold

Kitchenaid side by side refrgerator not cold enough: M #KSC24C8EYY00, S #HR13497649. After 4 days on generator during power outage the temp is 45 degrees fridge and below 0 on freezer floor.

Freezer evaporator fan not turning. Of two wires on connector, only one has 111 V the other is 269 mV. Motor does not have continuity (neither does a new uninstalled replacememt motor).

I once worked in appliance parts store so I know a little and can almost make sense of wiring diagram. Don't own an Ohm meter though.

Hello Will. When you check the evaporator motor voltage was the compressor running? With your voltmeter, check the voltage at the motor- have 1 meter lead on 1 motor wire and the other lead on the other wire. Don't check to the ground wire. Do this while you hear the compressor running. ( The evap motor is on when the compressor is on.) If you have 110 v (+-3%) and the motor isn't running then you have a bad motor. Some evaporator motors are DC voltage. Pull off front bottom grill and look for the tech sheet tuck in the frame or grill. Read it to determine voltage. Testing the evap motor for continuity or resistance is a reliable test. The motor should have continuity/resistance. If your testing a sensor, fuse, Tstat etc... an ohm meter is preferred. Good luck and be careful! 110volts is dangerous.

Thank you Mayer. I'm settled and I love this little town.! I've been working a lot since I moved- like the OT, hate that I don't have time to spend it.

Ps-I've always lived in Texas, just not this area.

Born in N Caroline but daddy got us to Texas asap! I was 4yrs old. And yes, I speak with an original southern draw. LoL
