Boots to Apple logo then nothing

Hello all, i hope you can help. I have an iPad 3 Wi-Fi/AT&T that will not fully boot into the OS. It boots to the Apple logo than straight to black screen. I've tried resetting (home +lock/power) a few times, let the battery drain as far as i can tell, let it charge still nothing. Anyone have any ideas?

Plug it into a computer and open up iTunes. Hopefully it does not say it has detected an iPad in recovery mode.

You may be able to get away with just updating the iPad in recovery mode to keep the data without wiping the user data on the iPad otherwise you may need to restore the iPad in the end.

You can either use 3Utools (Windows application) or iTunes to do this.

More information on how to put an iDevice into recovery mode and do an update system software instead of restore:

Did you try booting it to recovery mode? You need to keep holding the home button once it shows the apple logo and is plugged into computer.
