2006 Ford Mustang in limp mode

I have a 2006 Ford Mustang that is in limp mode. I took it to have the airbags replaced due to the recall. The service center replaced the airbags and also did another recall some kind of reset. There was 8 inches of snow on the road so I drove very slow home. The next time I drove it, I was driving 50mph and it lost power no lights came on and it will only go 25mph. WHY IS MY MUSTANG SICK?

Hi Julie Marks,

If the throttle position switch (TPS) hasn't been replaced I would look into swapping it out with a new one.

If the check engine light is on can you post the code retrieved by a OBDII scanner?

julie marks since we do not know what was replaced, this is a difficult one to answer. I suggest you get it hooked up to a scan tool (Autozone etc. does it for free) and see if it comes up with a "throttle/pedal position sensor" issue. this would be the most common cause for limp mode on your year. Disconnect the battery for a while then reconnect and see if this clears the issue. If it does not or it returns think about replacing the TPS (throttle position sensor) which causes an awful lot of Mustang owners grief. It is not a difficult repair. The TPS is on the side of the throttle body and all you need to do is to If you can take out 2 screws and put them back in with the new sensor

The only thing they replaced was the airbags because of the recall they also said they did a reset on the computer but they did not go into detail I guess because I'm a blonde woman they didn't think I would understand

I hear you. Try to disconnect your battery and see if that resets. The limp mode may just be coincidental with the repair.
