Phantom adapter is connected

Upon startup my phone says "This accessory is not supported for iPhone"

I noticed there is sound with ring tones but no sound from the music player, slider to unlock the phone, or keyboard clicks.

The headphones work.

Could this be a bad dock connector?

Yep, this is most likely the case but I would personally buy another second hand phone instead of repairing this, many things can go wrong easily from taking out the screen.
