I changed my power supply, but my computer freezes during start up.

I replaced the power supply on my iMac. I started it, entered my password and it seemed to be starting normal, but I only got a white screen. I shut it down with the power button, disconnected the power for a minute or so and then tried to restart. The dark line extends below my log in name and photo, but the computer never fully starts.
