Is a repair guide coming?

Hi,

I recently pulled my iPad out of my bag to find something’s cracked my screen.

Is their a screen repair guide available or on its way?

Apple is quoting almost the cost of the iPad itself for the screen repair :S

Cheers, Sam

I replaced the screen on my 10.5 myself while using the tear down as a bit of a road map. I ordered a replacement screen from another website for far less than what Apple charges for the repair and couldn’t be happier. The quality is exactly the same and the enhanced 120hz mode still works flawlessly.

Since your screen is already broken, there really isn’t a lot of risk of damaging much if you pay attention to where antenna wires, etc. were found in the tear down. The most sensitive work was disconnecting the old screen, connecting the new one, and *carefully* transferring my home button from the broken screen to the new one. I recommend buying a roll of the screen adhesive tape to use for both resecuring the home button and the screen.

Go slow and look over the tear down every time you’re unsure and at every step of the process. Close examination of the pictures will help immensely.

I did see that, but I was hoping for something more step by step for a novice. Is it too tricky?

Here's the video for it.

The entire LCD is glued on, and on it is glued the TouchID and Home button.

The risk is damaging the touchID and home button.

I couldn't find a disassemble guide, so I winged it! The screen was easy, but I needed to replace the battery. I found out the hard way that the charging port is connected to the logic board! The chargeport is just like the other ipads with the flex cable being soldered to the board. Luckily I did not tear any pads, so wish me luck getting it all back together.

I have a noisy audio jack. As in it is loose and the slightest movement causes horrible line noise. Quite unfortunate for listening to anything while holding the ipad, even more so that I like to record music with mine. Anyone have any tips on replacing the jack itself?
