I just got this, i think the centre ue button is for play/pause/skip. I am pairing it to a mac, playing songs from spotify. The button is not working at all, no response whatsoever when i press it, song continues playing. Is it a problem of source or the speaker itself?

The UE WonderBoom does not offer start & stop function buttons for playing music. All they offer is volume control. What you do have by pressing the raised button is Voice Services which then allows you to do this. If you have the Boom app installed you can then use the center area (UE label) to then control things.
Here's a short vid of voice control in action: UE Voice Integration - Siri and Google Now Integration. Basically, the way UE is selling this is a bit off as they aren't telling you voice in the ads or their web site unless you dig a bit deeper. You now have an Alexa or Siri remote for your phone or tablet.

The “button” to start/stop/skip is not a raised one. It’s recessed under the “Ultimate Ears” logo between the power and pairing button. It’s the same “button” if you’re going to pair speakers together.
Start/Stop works just fine, I’m trying to get the skip feature to work correctly.
