iPhone 7 stuck in boot loop after screen replacement

I have an IPhone 7 stuck in boot loop after screen replacement.

I already tried to restore, didn't work.

Tested battery and the screen on a different phone and it works fine.

The only way I am able to boot up the by disconnecting the screen assembly completely and iTunes will recognize the phone and it seem to work fine.

How would you fix this issue?

No, I will update the thread if I do

Please do. I am having the same problem with 2 7's

I had the same issue with a 7...I was replacing the factory Apple screen with an aftermarket...started boot looping upon installing new screen...disconnected the screen and restored entering DFU mode...thought I fixed it...nope. Connected the screen (aftermarket) back and it started boot looping again. So frustrating.

I have a iPhone 7 with a broken home button, apart from that it was working fine, it is stuck in a boot loop due to the home button. Is there any home fixes for this? Even just a way to get it to turn on?

Try a new proximity sensor. I believe this can sometimes cause issues.

because apple..... it can be many different things, especially on the 7/7 plus. it can be audio ic, baseband cpu or psu/ home button/a bend in the phone or hard drop/pry damage during disassembly. ive seen resistors on nand lines break and cause it as well. theres so many things that can cause a bootloop.

tarafından

This is often (but not always) the cause of an ip7 boot loop. This is because a broken prox flex often causes shorting issues or causes the phone to fail the bootup checks. Visual inspection with the naked eye is often not sufficient, even scoping it can fail to show damage on a damaged prox flex.

tarafından

he is absolutely right,

My screen came with "spare parts" aka the front cam, speaker, proximity sensor**, and ambient light sensor... I've replaced 100 or so screens so its not a flex cable... Maybe a damaged home button as this phone has been through a few screens, but retained its original (chipped) home button(?).

tarafından

What is the solution to this problem if it is due to a broken home button?

I have found that the proximity sensor is the issue most of the time, if you start the phone but disconnect the top cable to the camera it will boot just fine. Apparently the glass where the camera is looking through is causing some sort of false signal.

Thanks this worked for me

I was an idiot and plugging the cable in backwards. Once I turned it around, mine worked again.

tarafından

Any advice on fixing this so that you can plug the cable back in? I did this, but I'd like the camera to work again. Is it permanently broken now?

tarafından

+1 for the proximity sensor. Moved my camera assembly over from the previous screen. Worked initially, then stopped during reassembly. Maybe need to affix it to the next screen with some glue on the sides?

Bruv that helped I tried everything thank you

Excellent tip, I had done the same now it is all working as it should. Thank you!

I think this is the problem for me but I can't work out how to loop it round the right way, the cable seems to long!

tarafından

Freakin unbelievable !!!! this actually worked disconnecting the camera flex cord, but every time i connect again it enters the boot loop, so what to do?

tarafından

This should be voted the top answer. It is quite possible to plug in the connector the wrong way - you then get put into the perpetual reboot loop. Thank you again for mentioning this. It really saved my sanity and my phone.

The main culprits for a boot loop on iPhone 7 after a screen replacement would normally be a damaged home button (or home button flex cable), (will eventually come on after 5-10 mins) or damaged front camera flex. If your really unlucky then it's possibly an ic as they are a known problem from dropping a iPhone 7.

in my case it was faulty front camera!!

the boot loop on my ip7 plus was caused by the home button flex cable, the flex cable itself was destroyed, thus, I bought another home button flex cable and it worked.

Often times when replacing a component in an iPhone, the user may install the screws in the wrong place. Since they are of different length, it may cause a short somewhere inside of the device. Make sure no metal pieces are where they shouldn't be, and try again. You can also try to boot the device temporarily without any of the screws you unscrewed to see if that is the issue.

This typically causes a no start issue not a bootloop. Just dead phone that needs a skilled microsolder tech to repair.

This is being called “Loop Disease”, and it is related to the Audio ic or the Baseband PMU. The solder joints beneath these IC’s are in a weak spot and will actually crack and/or separate from the board. Once this disconnects, the device cannot receive the data it needs upon boot up to actually boot fully. We have been repairing this issues like crazy at my shop here in the St. Louis area.

What is the cost to repair? I have a 7 plus that is doing this. Half the time the home button works and then doesn't and the phone goes into loop mode. My email is smdeuman@yahoo.com. Can you send me a link to your business?

tarafından

This absolutely can be another cause but the good practices in the industry are "You have a hardware problem until you can rule that out, then go looking for boardlevel issues) I'd try checking my prox flex (unplug or replace it) same with the homebutton. If that fails out and you're certain the battery is good then i'd go hunting boardlevel problems.

I replaced my first iPhone 7 screen and although it tested OK straight from the box when I came to the full install it was very slow to boot and then went into boot loop. The Apple symbol showed for about 10secs and then seemed to die but came on again repeatedly. I disassembled, including disconnecting the Home button, reconnected the digit and LCD flexes and again it tested fine. Reassembled everything but this time I more carefully reseated the Home button and this time all worked 100%.

Im having the same bootloop after replacing the 7 plus scree.

But... When i connect all cable but leave the screen half open,. The phones starts normaly.

While the phone is on and all buttons and camera work, i click close the Screen and it shuts down and gets stuck in the boot loop.

When ever i half open the screen, it starts normaly. As soon as i close the last 2 cm of the display.. boom. Bootloop

Did you ever resolve this issue? I am having the problem

Here is my answer and this may help.

If you tried a new cam, and it still boots to logo then shuts off then does it over and over.. try another screen. Some screens are cheaply made and won’t register with the boot up process and will fail causing the boot loop. Try putting the old screen on and seeing if it’ll boot. If it does, your screen is bad and should be replaced with a higher quality display. I had one come in from a shop same issue and it ended up being a cheap quality replacement screen causing the boot loop.

be careful in installing the charging connector, try comparing the charging connector to the normal pcb. usually a bad installation can cause the connector to bend and stop at the apple logo. replace the connectors, and install them carefully. the problem must be solved. send me a gift on my birthday ... hahaha

It could be a faulty component, try disconnecting the camera.

I had this problem and was racking my brain for the last two months trying to think of what the problem could be; I finally figured it out yesterday when trying the screen on a different 7 (I was testing the other board to see if it was good) and it was in a bootloop as well. I decided to disconnect the camera and try it again; this time IT WORKED.

I connected it back to the original phone (without plugging in the camera), restored it and it worked as well.

Maybe you’ll get lucky and it will be something as simple and fixable as that, but it could also be any component on the board or on the screen assembly causing it.

Good Luck!

I've had the same issue as you many times, apparently if I disconnect the home button you can plug the front camera back on and it will work again. The home button seems to be the culprit all this time.

tarafından

So did you reconnect the camera after restoring?

Boot loop or taking forever to boot after a screen replacement on iPhone 7 or newer can be caused by a defective or incorrectly installed proximity sensor. If the screen came with prox you can remove it and install with the one from the defective screen or send the screen back.

When I last had this after my screen replacement-it was either a screw in wrong spot, cable not seated all the way or a torn camera wire... disconnect everything (starting with battery) and only connect the screen and see if problem continues

I had an issue with my screen, and apparently seems that’s causing the bootloop. I discovered yesterday that If I press the screen with a little force, the bootloop temporarily disappears and boots normally.

The battery is another issue which I can’t understand, according to apple settings it said that my battery health is 62%, however if I disconnect it from the charger, it immediately turns off.

What can be causing this issue? battery? screen ?

62% is a bad battery. Apple considers a failing battery anything below 80%

Bad camera is known to cause a boot loop.

Actually a good check is to use an infrared thermometer to look for hot spots near the top of the screen where the camera sits, if it or the screen controller is damaged then this will show up.
