My Xbox one is over heating

My xbox one which ive had since 12/2015 is now over heating, i turn it on and it turns off after a minute or 2 and makes this little squeak noise, or it turns on on the xbox title screen, loads up then turns off, i have it in a well ventilated space and i am awaiting a new xbox but i want to make sure that this one hasnt broken.
