How to Find Wi-Fi Log-on Credentials

When connecting to the internet, I use the Wi-Fi connection under Settings. My question is this: when I use a particular Wi-Fi connection, I would like to see exactly what log-on credentials (i.e., user name, password, etc.) are being used to connect to that particular mobile broadband supplier. When I click on the connection, it provides me with limited information (i.e., IP address) but I cannot find the log-on credentials.

Are you able to advise?

Thank you.

As we will have to open a system file on Android, we cannot use the traditional file explorer that comes pre-installed on the device. We will use ES File Explorer for the task.

Now move up a folder (to the root folder) in ES File Explorer and you will see a directory called data. Navigate to data/misc/wifi folder and you will find a file named wpa_supplicant.conf. Tap on the file to open it up and make sure you use ES File Explorer ‘s built-in text/HTML viewer for the task.

In the file you should be able to see the network SSID and their passwords next to it. You can now search for the SSID (network name) and note down the password next to it and close the file.

Please make sure that you don’t edit the file or you might start having problems with your Wi-Fi connectivity. There are a certain number of apps listed in the Play Store for the task but it’s better to use this manual method to get the passwords than to install that adware crap.

Thank you for this; however, I am completely lost.

I have installed ES File Explorer and have navigated (as best I can) through it but for the life of me, I cannot figure out how to move up a folder (to the root folder).

I hope I can help with this problem because I faced this problem last week

There are several ways to do this.

  • Use an app to see the Wi-Fi password
  • Show wifi password android in the root directory (Manually)

I recommended using the 1st method because it's easy can get the best result.

find WiFi login credentials using an app

fist you need to download the WiFi Password Viewer app and follow the steps.

  1. When you first time using this app will ask you Super User request. So tap on the GRANT.
  2. Then, the app will show you a list of previous wifi connection that you were already connected with your android device.
  3. Find your forgot wifi network and tap on it.
  4. You will see the password of the selected wifi network. try these steps I think you can solve this problem.

If you fail this method, try it the right way How to find Wi-Fi login credentials and for other methods.
