Replacing battery in Bose QC35

I was wandering through the Internet to see if it is possible to disassemble to fix Bose QuiteComfort 35, as I don't like to buy unfixable electronics, and I was shocked with how little information I found regarding to fixing or disassembling those super-popular headphones.

I found the following tear-down on Reddit, and got to the conclusion that Bose made sure that it will be practically impossible to disassemble them without some heavy machinery:

What do you think? Will we see a tear-down anytime soon or is it a lost battle?

Same for me, I hate when they do that. I will stick to the QC25 with the easy AAA.

There is now a partial teardown guide that includes how to access the battery. Bose QuietComfort 35 PARTIAL Teardown

I’m not sure what type of battery to replace it with though.

Hi Junrei,

any luck sourcing for the battery?

tarafından

I did source a battery. Just replace it with one of the same voltage and capacity, and make sure it has a temperature wire (it will be a 3-wire battery instead of 2-wire). You can use a 10K resistor to ground (I think) to do without a temp sensor on the battery but I do not recommend that. Double check that.

Hi Junrei,

Mind if I ask you where you sourced the battery?

@Rex Catipay Please see the teardown.

Hi Georgey,

The Bose QC35 are not user serviceable and will require some electrical knowledge to take it apart to replace something such as the battery.

I am unsure if iFixit will do a teardown but if these headphones are a pair that you are dead set on feel free to do a teardown and put it up to help others out who might be in the same spot you are.

Isn't the entire point of DIY repair to figure things like this out and share the knowledge with the community?

It will be a single lithium cell at 3.7v nominal like every other wireless headphone on the market.

It will require soldering the positive lead (red) and negative (black).

The whole reason I love this community is for people's fighting "we can figure this out! we can do this!" spirit.

This comment seems to aim to smother that spirit.
