Gas won’t transfer from carburetor to cylinder

I have installed a new fuel pump and a new carburetor and a new starter but the gas won’t transfer from the carburetor into the cylinder. When I put gas into the cylinder and then put the spark plug back in the cart starts to run but the Exhaust comes back out through the air filter. I tried spraying Quickstart through the air filter hose and then turned the engine over but the engine blew the gas back through the air filter hose. Any ideas on the problem??

@tomesy3 what make and model/year is your cart? You might even know what engine it is since you already replaced the carb.

When you installed the new carb did you also install a new gasket between the carb and the engine block and when you did did you remember to knock the center from the gasket if not you just made a wall between the too . Ive seen this done quit often and will admitt to doing it once myself. Hope this helps

Sounds like your exhaust is plugged up. Years ago I heard you could jam a potato onto the end of the tail pipe and cause it to fail to run.
