Water vacuumed up - vacuum stopped working

My Sammy is dead! Sammy sucked up some water and quit working. I dried it out by setting it out in warm weather and in the sun and cannot get it to come back on or connect to the recharge station. I have switched it off and on and done numerous things but no luck. I have done all kinds of internal checks but cannot see anything to trip other than the master switch. Is there a fuse or something else I need to check to restart. I did not see very much water in the dust bin.

Hi. Did you figure out how to fix your problem? I’m having the same issue.

me too! Mine has run over water on the floor and now reads C07 and C06 (sensor warnings). Can I simply replace the sensors or is there more to it?

I fixed it one way. I went out and bought a new Sammy at Walmart and bought a five year protection plan. The price of Sammys has gone down.

Oh no… what a disaster! What reccomend is taking the entire robot apart and cleaning it with <90% Isopropyl Alcohol. I am 100% sure you know water and electronics designed to be exposed to water do not mix and it could possibly be too late at this point. As I said, clean it with the alcohol (99.9% of the robot needs to be cleaned) and try it again. If there is corrosion on the Motherboard I guarantee you it is dead.

Hi @ajcooke01 ,

Being pedantic, Isopropyl Alcohol 90%+ is not the same as "rubbing" alcohol.

Rubbing alcohol is usually only 70%IPA or less, it can contain scents and is generally not as effective.

if you do have to use it check the label for the ingredients and amount of IPA.

Cheers.

@jayeff i updated my answer, thank you.

@ajcooke01 I use methanol for cleaning as it contains no water. I also use it to loosen the glue on Mac laptops with glued in batteries rather than acetone.

@mayer Methanol is much more toxic then Isopropyl Alcohol. Personally (I acknowledge your opinion) I would still use Isopropyl Alcohol as I like using non-toxic stuff.

Hi you will find cleaning will kill the unit especially if you do not disconnect the battery. If you disconnect the suction motor the unit will come back to life. Theses vacuums never fill op inside with water and only the motor need replacing

My genius self took my vacuum apart and then submerged the parts in water to clean it. It wouldn't work after this, duh. But then my actual genius self put the vacuum parts in rice for about 3-4 hours and the vacuum never worked better after that. Try it out!
