How to get a home button working?

I have an iPhone 8 plus that I bought as a project to fix and get going again, then possibly sell. I have ordered most parts, except for the back glass (hard to find a product red OEM one for a decent price..), and the parts have started arriving now.

However, I’ve been doing some reading on the home button. I have the original button, but not the connectors/flex cables. Is there any way to get a working home button? Would it work if I got an iCloud locked 8/8 Plus and stole the home button? i’m aware touch ID wont work, I just need a functioning home button. I will continue with my own research, but any help would be appreciated.

It is said that only Apple can repair this. As the Home Button is matched to the logic board so you cannot even change it and retain Touch ID functionality. Additionally, starting with the iPhone 7 & up, the Home Button no longer as a mechanical actuator so you cannot even replace the HB with an aftermarket one because it will not do anything.

you could use a home button dongle or assistive touch, but no—-without the original home button you would need to go to Apple to get a new one programmed, or wait a really long time until Apple allows some independent shops access to the Horizon machine
