No Power to LCD After Liquid Cleaning

I’ve been cleaning a liquid damaged 2010 with 99% isopropyl. It wouldn’t post for ages, but suddenly has started booting fine: works on battery, charges, keyboard and trackpad work, keyboard backlight works, target disk works, Wi-Fi and bluetooth work, etc.

However, there’s no power to the LCD. I’ve cleaned the board connector and cable several more times, but get no joy. Video output works via MDP, but obviously internal LCD would be great.

Any tips on cleaning further? Does the cable look too damaged?

the solder pads on your connector look corroded as well. Since your cable is also corroded, rest assured that the corrosion is in the connector as well. The only proper way of fixing this is by replacing the connector and cable.

You’ll need to use solder wick and flux to clean off the solder on the connector pads. Hopefully you can salvage the connector and the logic board pads are still good. Often times the corrosion eats through, then you’ll need to patch the pads and/or run jumpers.

As far as the cable it’ll need replacement.
