My kindle won’t connect to WiFi

For some reason my kindle will no longer connect to WiFi, i’ve Tried connecting to different networks and phone hotspots but no luck (i’ve reset the device). It’s really frustrating but I don’t know what to do know. Can you help please?

I have the same problem with my Kindle. It can't find any Wi-Fi network. Even after resetting. I also noticed that the battery discharges very quickly when Wi-Fi is on. And I also noticed that in the device info, the MAC address of the Wi-Fi is unavailable.

Solution was to type in full network key for the WiFi. Since the router was not labelled in English I did not use the right code at first.

The solution above is not the answer, mine also shows no networks, and I cant get it to do anything 'manually'. I have updated to 4.1.4 and this is the same.

Jonathan, please try a hard reset of your kindle. Check you have the latest firmware on your kindle. Then check that other devices can see/use the WiFi network you are trying to use. Also try a different (public) WiFi network. If these (simple) measures do not work, I can only suggest to try Amazon.

My kindle kept saying no connection to any Wi-Fi so I went to settings and clicked on restart, worked by updating at the same time, now I have Wi-Fi and I didn't have to buy a new 1

If you have tried restarting the device then a hard restart may help. This can be done by holding down the power button for a total of 40 seconds. You will note that the screen will go dark at 7 to 8 seconds but keep the power button held down until you reach at least 40 seconds. Once done, release and try to power on. If you still have troubles with the connection than I recommend trying to connect to the specific WiFi network with a different device. If neither of these work, please add a message so I can help some more. Hope this works!

No improvement. In settings under WiFi Networks i have (0) networks available and no network connected. This computer is connected to the same network I am trying to use with the Kindle so the network is good but my kindle obviously can see it.

Same issue. Tried power off for 40 seconds. Tried also reset, reset while connected to power and power off (full 40 seconds) while connected to power.

Nothing shows wi-fi networks on Kindle even though other mobile/tablet devices connect fine.

Similiar story : kindle cannot log into my WiFi network, but my tablet can.

This is on Mac High Sierra All other devices on LAN see wifi and get Internet access including other applications on the same Mac that's running the Kindle app that cannot connect

Follow some troubleshooting steps mentioned below:

  1. Turn off the Wi-Fi connection option on your device and turn it back on.

2. Restart your Kindle/e-reader device. After turning it back ‘on’, try connecting with the wireless network. If still unable to connect, try the ‘forget network’ option and then rescan for your Wi-Fi network and try connecting.

3. Reboot the modem, if the Wi-Fi connection doesn’t show up, try scanning for available Wi-Fi networks. If it still doesn’t show up, add it manually under settings on your device and connect.

4. Check if your internet connection is working properly, in case it is not and if the problem doesn’t get solved by a ‘router reboot,’ contacting your internet provider will be a good idea.

Hopefully, this solves your problem. However, if the problem still persists, try resetting your e-reader to factory settings (this solves almost all problems). If still facing issues, contact a technical support service at 1–800–986–4764 to guide you through the troubleshooting process.

Follow the below steps to fix Kindle won’t connect to WiFi:

  • The foremost step is press the power button for a couple of seconds and this would turn off your kindle fire. Again turn it back on again.
  • Make sure that you have the latest version of software on your tablet and the apps must be updated accordingly.
  • Make sure the airplane mode is off.
  • Check the time and date settings on your tablet. They must be correct or it may lead to WiFi connectivity issue.
  • The kindle must be closer to the router if you want to connect your kindle to WiFi.
  • Try connecting your kindle fire to WiFi. Is it connecting? If not, You need to reset the router. You need to change the DHCP IP address to static address. In order to do this you need to turn off the router. From the router delete all the DHCP records.
  • Try restoring your kindle’s factory settings. This would definitely solve your issue of connectivity.

I tried all of these steps several times and it did not work. Eventually I discovered I was using the wrong password for the Router ( the instructions weren’t in English), so basically it was my mistake. I also tried setting up a separate WiFi on my PC but for some reason that wouldn’t work either.

I have literally just resolved this by a full reset:

Have your Amazon login details ready.

In the settings menu on your Kindle, assign a password (anything will do, e.g. abcd - but remember it!).

Place the device in sleep (ie short press on power button), then press the power button to wake it. It will request the password.

Type in: resetmykindle

After a minute or two it will go through the factory reset process, including the WiFi set up and account details.

That's it! Go into your main Amazon account on a different device, find your books, check all you want and deliver to your kindle. Done!
