Thunderbolt connector is not functioning - How to replace/repair?

Hi everyone

My trusty early 2014 1.4 GHz MacBook Air is working great! One big problem, the thunderbolt video output has gone from intermittent to non-functional.

Can anyone tell me which internal board or boards need to be replaced to repair this?

Trying to use this with a Henge vertical dock, and believe that the plugging/unplugging from the dock on top of 5 years of road time and many connect/disconnects finally broke the contacts on the connector

While I’m in there, anything else I should do? Bigger SSD and more RAM maybe?

Love this machine and really want to keep it another year or two. Thanks in advance.

Connector is on the logic board itself, nothing you can replace yourself there. It’s a through hole connector, pretty solid and I doubt anything got disconnected unless it got seriously bumped with the adapter in place. It might just be dirt, you may try cleaning it with fine tweezers and some alcohol dampened small soft cloth. You may as well try with some canned air. If nothing helps it might yet be some smaller filter or resistor gone bad but that would need some skills and tools to be fixed.
