Would T7300 (800MHz FSB) work as drop in CPU replacement?

I have the 1,83GHz Core Duo version with 677MHz FSB. Can't locate T7200/T7400 (known to work as C2D upgrades) - but can get T7300 which has 800MHz FSB.

Will T7300 down-clock to match motherboard/RAM?

Perhaps this MacMini will make it to OS X Lion.. :-)

Thanks in advance

its hard to say. the 956 chip set is limited to 667mhz fsb but in other mobos and chip sets i have seen it under clock the fsb and work just fine.

it is hard to tell if the mini will do it. i am getting a mini soon and will be trying hte same thing.

The T 7300 intel processor was used in just one iMac. Most are for mobil machines and I think have the P socket. I don't have time to check right now but I believe your machine uses a M socket. Check here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Int...

I don't know how old (or new) this post is. It's common knowledge that the T 7600 will work. It is available on eBay for about $100.00 US.

Update

just received your note:

Here are two different blogs which discuss the T 7600 and other compatible ones. And an eBay link. I'm considering doing the same so I can operate Lion/Lion Server on my Mini. Good luck!
