Once you deregister the device you should be good to go. Are you able to get it to turn on and use it at all? What’s happening? I have a Kindle Fire, it’s maybe 10 years old, and it still does the trick as far as eReaders go. Though it’s not great for 3rd party apps anymore.
To deregister a Fire tablet:
- Swipe down from the top of the screen and tap the Settings (gear) icon.
- Tap My Account.
- Tap Deregister, then tap Deregister again to confirm.
