Fan starts for one second then it turns off

Hello

my mac mini starts by its own when I plug it into power and then it keeps starting up fan spins for a second and the led light turn on for a second at the same time . I check the power supply output voltage and it is 14.8 V on four pins and 0V on four pins and one goes from 0.9 to 2.6V when the fan spinnes. I alredy checked the power button and tried to start it with only power supply pluged but it is the same I checked the logic board and it looks in good condition. Hope to find the answer?

Given that you asked this question today, I have to ask: any OS installs lately?? Catalina maybe? On an external drive perhaps?

But that is only 2.8V more than 12V older mac mini models accept from12-17V

@luka11lavric - Why does that matter?

Are you seeing any output on the display screen alters its color or you see the Apple logo? The fact the fan spins up for a short time doesn't prove the power supply is good as the load of the logic board can cause the power supply to fail. Which is what I suspect here.

As I stated I would replace the power supply, if that didn't fix it then your logic board is bad.

Ok on the display I do not see anything

Can you please explain what is the load of the logic board? and If I can somehow test if that is the problem?

And also the power supply put out all the time 14.8V even when the fan stops spinning. I do not know if that means anything

Think of it this way... I have a go-cart if I raise the wheels I can run the engine full out, but if I try to run it up a steep hill with a large load it won't move very fast and the engine might knockout. So the power of the engine with no load is just great! But the load you are placing it under won't let the cart go at the same speed.

This is the same with power! You can have the right voltage with the board not wired in and as soon as you do the board is not able to work.

The choices are clear it's either the power supply or its the logic board. I'm betting on the Power Supply as they often go, and is the cheaper possibility.
