Mac Pro 2008 Samsung 860 EVO not recognized over SATA

I have a 2008 Mac Pro that I’m trying to install Samsung 860EVO SSDs in. They are recognized over USB in a dock, but I’ve yet been unable to get them recognized when plugged into the SATA ports. A Toshiba spinning drive works just fine over SATA.

Does anyone have any experience with this? EFI update is current. Could it be the SATA cables?

Are you using the original drive frame (3.5" drive) or using the needed 2.5" drive frame?

Are you trying to setup a RAID set?

tarafından

No RAID. Just accessing it directly mounting it in a drive frame.

Running Yosemite 10.10.5.

I’m able to install Yosemite on the SSD, and it shows up as a Startup Drive in System Prefs. Can’t boot from it, however, and it doesn’t show up *at all* when connected via SATA.

Journaled HFS+, GUID...

Am I missing something stupid?

Format it GUID in your dock and you should be fine. I have had no problems with these dives in both my 2008 and 2009 Mac Pros. What system are you running?
